Walter Reed Army Hospital

I don't know if you remember but a while back our oldest son was very very ill. He had developed a very bad infection after having his wisdom teeth pulled and he ended up in ICU at Walter Reed Army Hospital. The nursing staff and doctors were so good to him and our family during his stay there. This little guy is done up in Army green and his syringe is proportionately the same size as the one they used on our son!

I had a box of cards made up for the local store that I sell them at and instead I took them to Walter Reed and handed them to staff and dropped off the rest at the Family Services office so that other family members could give them to loved ones. If you are ever looking to unload a bunch of your precious cards be sure to add your local hospital to the list - they will be well received and loved!

This little guy is another Prairie Fairy Designs, he's colored up with Copics, Glassy Glaze on his spectacles, and the ARMY charm was one I picked up at Michaels.

The Sisterhood said Anything Goes....

I'd like you to meet Eskimo Joe. Joe is a newly released image from Dude Time Doodles. So new in fact that today is his birthday!  Joe has been fighting the snow for a few months now and finally Sentimental Sundays came along and showed him the way out! Joe is hanging up his shovel! It is all about the snowman now.
Eskimo Joe is colored with colored pencils and OMS. There is a ton of sparkly Martha Stewart coarse glitter goodness all over the page and I created a leopard print with the fur on his parka with a black marker and white fluff n' stuff (ok I don't know the real name of this white fluffy stuff so I have always called it "Fluff n' Stuff).

The challenge this week at The Sisterhood is "Anything Goes" which means that every single one of you should be headed over there to link up your artwork. I'd also like to give a shout out to Dude Time Doodles who are having their New Release Blog Hop that starts today!

Man alive can you say "multi-tasker"? Have a Happy Hump Day!!

Dude Time Doodles Blog Hop

It's New Release Blog Hop time again.  Dude Time Doodles has some very exciting and handsome new Dudes for you to meet.  If you have not joined in our hops before this Hop does not have a starting and ending point so no matter where you HOP on you are in the right place. Just keep going. Don't forget to leave some love everywhere you land, there's always a surprise or two lurking on some Mystery Blog Hostess' blog!

One of the eight new Dudes coming your way are Hammock Harold.  We took a page right out of Harold's book over the Christmas holiday. Our company closed down for the holiday which gave us two weeks of uninterrupted quality down time. We lounged in our pj's, stayed up late, slept in late and ate take out quite a bit!!

Harold has the "stay"cation down to a science. We are hoping that it warms up soon so we can get to chillin' in the hammock right alongside Harold.  He is all colored up with colored pencils and OMS. The arrow is a chipboard piece and the sky and landscaping are sponged and penciled!

If joined right here make a full circle, if you came from HETTY's place you are on the right track and you will be visiting LYNN next!  I can't wait to see what you think of all the new Dudes hanging out with us now at Dude Time Doodles!

January 25, 2011

This image is a Donna Salazar. This is another one of my 'finds' at Stamp-by-Step.  I used my Versamark pad and chalks to color this one, a Nesties and my new Martha Steward punch. Then put her all together. The sentiment is a rub-on. So pretty and yet still pretty easy. Ok I'm off and running. Have a GREAT day!!!

Re-enter the PINK

Couldn't resist with this cute little couple! As much as I hate the pressure of Valentine's Day I do LOVE the romanticism of the holiday. I just wish that we could be mushy all the time rather than just once a year. LOL

I cannot for the life of me remember where I picked these little loves up, so if you recognize them please shout it out so I can give credit. I hate it when I can't remember!! They are colored up with my Copics.

Going Buggy

Going Buggy is having a party and I just found out today is the last day to get in on the event. So the details are to submit a card with a bug on it! Well of course Kill It Kevin came to mind. You may remember seeing him as part of a blog hop a while back but I don't think I ever posted him here. So I am entering my bug card for the bash that Enfys is holding WooHoo!!!

Get More Betterer Quicker!

Now who wouldn't want this cutie patootie taking care of them when they are sick? This little love bug is Nurse Gillian from Prairie Fairy Designs. The minute I saw her sweet face I knew she would be perfect for some Get Well cards I'm working on.

I colored with Copics, used Glassy Glaze on her glasses as well as a Glaze pen for the color.

The inside of the card is a running tag with sentiments from Verve, button, and charm.

Got to have some humor when dealing with health issues, we all have them and they all suck!! To my Gal Pals who are under the weather and feeling icky I hope you get More Betterer Quicker!!!

Dude Time Doodles Inspiration Challenge

Hi ALL! Today is the third Wednesday of the month and Dude Time Doodles hosts an Inspiration Challenge every third Wednesday. This month's theme is "Anything but a Card". My inspiration this challenge came from my new Nook that Santa brought me this Christmas. While shopping around for a cover I was floored with how expensive they were. So I said to myself "I could make a cover for my Nook"....hehehe

So here is my entry for the Inspiration Challenge Anything but a Card:

I used Sticky Back Canvas. One 8.5x11 sheet is the perfect size for this project.

I created a collage of some of the recent cards I have created (sneaky peek time - you will some images here that have not yet been released). Once I had created the collage in PSE I printed off on to the Sticky Back Canvas. As you can see the canvas went through the printer quite well and took the color even better.

Then I took the dimensions of my Nook and cut the actual cardboard piece that came in the package of Sticky Back (another perfect fit).

I slowly pulled the plastic back coating off of the Sticky Back while laying down my first piece of cardboard.

Then I chose another piece of Sticky Back and created my inside cover. I printed off my blog information, my header and added a border stitching pattern to finish off the inside of the cover. I also rounded the corners so I don't poke myself and sprayed the whole thing with waterproofing spray that I had for my boots. LOL It said that it works on canvas on the can - my cover is canvas. hehehe  The spray did not make the cover harden at all, it just gave is a seal. Pretty cool. Now if I drop my Nook in the toilet my cover is safe, don't know what to say for the Nook....giggle....

I then used some really strong velcro for the inside to hold the Nook in place. Now I realize that some of you do not want a velcro strip on the back of your e-readers so you could create a pocket or sew bands of elastic in each corner to hold the reader in place.

I placed my Nook, and tah-dah!

To finish I added a leather clasp to keep the cover closed.

And here you have it! The originally created, one of a kind Nook cover!

Be sure to head over to Dude Time Doodles and join in the Anything but a Card fun!

I just had to throw in this deal....

I picked up this little wood piece at Michaels for 50 cents. I added the white accents, that's it, and layered my cardstock. The most simple St. Valentine's Day card ever!

Oh yeah, ooops, it's pink again......I thought I was over Pink but I guess I'm not. hehehehe.
Fun, Easy and Cheap - just the way we like it!

January 17, 2011

A little purple, not much, but a little.....

Larry Lane just scored a 300. It was due to his extreme concentration and fancy footwork! Larry is colored with Copics.
Larry Lane is a Bonibleaux Designs. The bowling pins, ball and background papers I picked up at a garage sale.

Dude, Surf's Up!!

Cyber Card Crop Challenge 4 and here you go!  This is Waylon Waves. He is one cool surfer dude. He hangs ten with the best of them and you can always find him at a beach party  playing his ukulele by the beach fire.  I love the beach and can't wait until it is warm enough to actually enjoy it. The last time we were at the beach in the winter the wind coming in off the water was soooooo cold. We've decided that we like it much better in the Summer or late Fall the best.
But Waylon loves the waves no matter the weather. At least he's wearing his sunscreen and lucky shark tooth necklace to ward off all bad beach stuff. LOL Waylon Waves is a Bonibleaux Design. The sentiment is TLC.

Challenge No. 3

Ok so I can't really follow the rules, even when they are easy. Here is card two but it's for Cyber Card Crop Challenge 3. Two more to go.  This is actually fun! I haven't participated in one of these crops before. I'm glad I have until 10 p.m. on Monday to complete the other two challenges. Oooh and the challenges are EASY! Come play with me - I'd love a little friendly competition! hehehe

Here's Mechanic Mike. He's one those men that you really want in your life. He can fix what's under your hood and he's pretty sweet about it too.  He's another sweetheart over at Bonibleaux Designs.  Mike is colored up with Copics and the tag is actually from a pair of jeans. I thought the texture and color of the tag was pretty cool.

Told ya it wouldn't be purple or pink.....

Yay! I did it. I just completed Challenge One at the PCP Card Crop Challenge - you should head over and get in on the fun! There are three challenges and you have until Monday night 10 p.m. Too much fun!!

I'd like to introduce you to Nerd Ned from Bonibleaux Designs.  He's colored up with Copics and I used my new heart dies and punch! The sentiment is printed off my computer. No ribbon, no bling, just a dude and his heart!

For My Super Hero Friend

You know who you are and you know why I think you are made of steel!

Ok I need more colors LOL - I promise this is my last purple card! I promise! LOL I was on a kick, I know and now it is time for me to move on - tomorrow I PROMISE it will be a different color!

This little super heroine is a La-La Land Crafts image, she's colored with Copics.

I told you I'm hooked on the pink and the purple!!

The Sisterhood is back in full swing. The challenge this week is Birthdays. My little creation is all about sending the birthday love and good wishes!  The Sisters had taken a break to spend time with their families and friends over the holidays and they are all excited to get back at it in 2011.  There are couple of changes and you can get all the details on The Sisterhood blog. We can't wait to see your birthday wishes so be sure to link up and have fun!

The stamp set is an Our Craft Lounge set that I picked up at Stamp-By-Step. If you want a good deal on stamps Cheryl is running a special the month of January for 20% off all stamps, use code STAMPSAVE20. I can tell you that on this
set alone that is a heck of a steal, um I mean deal!

I colored with Copics and glitter pens. I used my Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist and my red Smooch on the lace doily.  The little hearts and flowers are little extra stamps I had in my stash.

Don't forget to join in the fun at Dude Time Doodles this week!

Purple is my Friend

We've been on a snow alert for the last two days. No school today and NO snow. Hmmm I wonder if I could have called in sick today and told them I think I might be sick....lol...  I do give kudos to the school district though as we live in the country with mountain roads, switchbacks etc. and it is better to be safe than sorry.  Especially since we are the only school in the county and it is a very large county. Ahhh country living at it's finest. Can't say I would trade it though.

This little project was done up last night while thinking of the snow that is to be or not to be.  I think I'm going to have to start going with colored themed weeks. It might help me feel less obsessed with my love affairs with certain colors.  Colored with my Copics and I even used my SU! Lots of Love letter press plate.

This card is using Stampendous set Snowy Short Stacks.  I used my 20% off at Stamp-by-Step and picked up a few new sets. Yay!!

Enjoy your day!

Driftin' Along Humming a Song....

Driftin' Denton knows how to relax. He's humming "My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean" while driftin' along.  He may catch a fish, he may catch a few rays, but he is most definitely catching some zzzzz's.

Driftin' Denton is one of the newer releases at Bonibleaux Designs. He was colored with Copics and colored pencils and OMS, his blue skies and seas were sponged. The papers were from a bundle pack of papers I bought online so I am unsure who made it, the clocks are chipboard pieces.

A Love Affair with Color

One of the things I love most about what we do is that we get to have loads of passionate affairs with color. And we can break things off for a while and then come back and start the affair over again - right where we left off.

I've spent so much time with my Fall color boyfriends and Christmas color boyfriends that I had neglected my old boyfriend Spring colors. I am madly in love with Purple and Pink right now. I can't seem to do anything without them. But alas I'm fickle so I know that soon it will be time to move on to Yellow soon or maybe Green or Blue....no no not yet.....I still want to hang out with Pink and Purple.

I won a DCWV designer paper pack a while ago with all these wonderful rock and roll type graphics on them, so when I saw this pink and lavender paper I just knew that the love affair was still strong.

I used the new and improved Hippy Rocker. The inside reads: Love is a Friendship set to Music.  I created my own shirt and matching headband design with my Copics, I double layered and popped the "water vase", the little flowers in the vase are on clear stems (quilting thread), the flowers I picked up at Big Lots for a package that cost 50 cents.

I hope you ENJOY a nice and relaxing Sunday!!

Oh Happy Day!

It is Wednesday, January 5th - in case you missed that LOL and it is the very first challenge of the New Year over at Dude Time Doodles!

It is a sketch challenge (the first Wednesday of the month is ALWAYS a sketch challenge) and there are some new images being released today just to celebrate! Oh Yay!!

I chose to work with the new and fabuloso Zeke Zorro! Do you remember the remake with Antonio Banderas and Catherine Zeta-Jones? Oooh but Antonio could whisper Spanish sweet nothings in my ear any time!
[The papers are from Club Scrap and the map is a rub-on. I created the sentiment on my laptop. Inside says:  Always]

Dude Time Doodles Sketch Challenge is being sponsored by the gorgeous Ann V. of Raindrop Echo and Sentimental Sundays - you will not want to miss out on a chance to win her goodies - YUM!!

Baby It Is Cold Outside!

Here's the story and I'm sticking to it - every year I send out Christmas cards, like clock work. Last Christmas I was so overwhelmed with how many cards that I needed to send out that I committed myself to making at least a handful of cards a month leading up until post office time. Usually about two weeks before the 25th. I did pretty good with that deal I made myself. Until about August. Football season started, school started, band practice, choir practice, football practice blah blah blah. It was non stop go go go! So about a week before Christmas I said to myself "Self, you really need to get off your butt and start addressing envelopes and getting some cards out." And my Self replied "Oh we have plenty of time."

'Lo and behold four days before Christmas I remembered to bring the envelopes and my address book to the office so I could start addressing them for the cards. Three days before Christmas I brought the cards but forgot the envelopes at home. Two days before I remembered the envelopes and forgot the cards. It was a sign. It just wasn't supposed to happen. NOW I am so far ahead of 2011 Christmas card making and ALL the envelopes are done and all I'll need to do is put postage on them and 2011 Christmas cards are ready to go. So nobody decide to move LOL.

Here's one of the several different cards I created.

Enjoy and have a great Tuesday!!
